Welcome to the new Khanqah Site

The Arabic term Zaawiyah is known in Persian and Urdu as Khanqah. Zaawiyah literally means ‘a corner’ which denotes the dedication of those who sought the pleasure of Allah by devoting themselves and detaching themselves from the world in one corner.

This term thereafter became more general to that place which was dedicated in aiding people who sought reformation and wanted to cleanse themselves of the undignified sins which are attributed towards a person’s soul and heart.

The struggle against one’s Self (Nafs) is generally given the name of Tasawwuf and Tazkiyah, a reality that existed in the time of our Beloved Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam without a name. The one who practices this science of Tasawwuf is known as a Saalik or Sufi.
